Teaching social concepts can be challenging. After all, the social world is incredibly complex! In this course, we’ll introduce a practical six-step decision making framework designed to support individualized teaching plans that promote social development across a wide range of social learners. The combination of teaching tools will be anchored on a social learner’s age, social learning strengths/struggles, development, their perspective, and other factors such as anxiety or executive functioning that can support or provide a blocker to social learning.

Using the Social Thinking® Methodology and other approaches, we’ll explore ways to teach strategies that help learners understand how the social world works, which in turn will give them tools to figure out what makes sense to them and their own social goals.

Participants will be encouraged to apply what they learn to individuals they support in their personal or professional lives. Expect a highly interactive experience filled with hands-on activities, collaborative learning, and insights drawn from your own and others’ teaching journeys.

Join us and practice using your own clients or students to organize your own decision making to select practical tools to foster the development of social competencies. Enjoy lots of hands-on participation and learning in this course!

  • Unpack and practice using the Six Steps for Teaching Decision Making template
