There are any number of situations across a day that can be dysregulating for students and adults alike. These might be the rush of getting ready in the morning, worry about an upcoming deadline, or an unanticipated change in plans. Join us for this deep dive into learning about emotion understanding, self-regulation, and how the Superflex Metaverse fits into this both. This newly updated combined course is filled with innovative strategies, lessons, and activities that will equip you with the tools to explore the power of emotions, how the brain processes emotions, and why this is important when helping individuals better self-regulate. Learn about the power of negative emotions and how they can become blockers to personal and academic achievement—and strategies to break the cycle. Practice using hands-on tools and activities to help your students, clients, and patients understand their own complex emotions to foster development of self-regulation.
The second part of this conference day will focus on how the Superflex Curriculum Series (Social Detective & Superflex) can help students ages 6-12+ develop social observation, self-regulation, emotion understanding, and working & learning in a group. Kids love imagining themselves as Superflex superheroes who learn to take on and manage imaginary characters called UnthinkaBots, which represent ways of thinking and acting that can present obstacles to meeting their goals. Attendees will learn how to engage students in lesson quests that help develop learning about themselves as part of the social world.
Explore the connections between the Social Thinking® Methodology and academic standards and learn how to foster flexible thinking, through powering up Thinkables to manage UnthinkaBots. Explore how to easily embed social learning concepts, strategies, and activities into your school day and existing lessons to unleash the social, emotional, and academic learning potential of your students and clients.
