Join Us on a Learning Journey: 10 Concepts in 10 Months
Join us on a learning journey through the entire school year! Each month for the next 10 months our experts are sharing best practices for teaching one of our 10 core Social Thinking concepts—which build on each other and foster the development of social competencies. The concepts are taught from the perspective of Social Thinking’s Social Competency Model, to help refine students’ social attention, interpretation, problem solving, and responses within social contexts. We also share the Social Thinking products our clinicians use to extend the teaching of these concepts with different age groups.
Whether you’re new to Social Thinking or have used the methodology for years, this series gives you a framework to dive deep into a foundational social concept each month—which we find greatly benefits even the smartest students. While Social Thinking offers a myriad of treatment frameworks and strategies, these 10 foundational concepts are a great place to anchor and expand your students’ social-emotional learning at school, home, and in the community. This information can also help typically developing students who struggle to put down their devices and socially relate!
About This Webinar: Thoughts & Feelings
Join us to explore the first of 10 concepts in 10 months, thoughts & feelings! Social Thinking founder Michelle Garcia Winner starts by giving an overview of the webinar series and sharing the goal of this 10-month learning journey. She then explains best practices for teaching thoughts and feelings with different age groups, and shares which Social Thinking products (classic and brand-new!) offer lessons and activities to expand your teaching of this concept.
After watching this webinar, infuse your teaching with the concept of thoughts and feelings to help your students understand it deeply and meaningfully, (avoid memorization). Then, tune in to the second webinar to learn how to build on this concept with best practices for teaching thinking with your eyes.
The 10 Concepts Webinar Series
This webinar is part of a series that shares best practices for teaching 10 core Social Thinking concepts over 10 months. Strengthen your students’ social-emotional learning by infusing your teaching with an additional concept each month over the course of the school year. We recommend learning about (and teaching) the concepts in order as they build on one another! If a date below has already passed, the webinar recording is available here for you to watch!
