Michelle developed the Social Thinking® program that for 15 years has assisted individuals with high-functioning autism, Asperger syndrome, pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), ADHD and nonverbal learning disorder (NLD) have benefited from this treatment approach. Michelle's practical strategies are increasingly being taught to a broad range of students and adults, with or without diagnosis. Research published in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders supported Michelle’s methodologies for higher-functioning autism and Asperger’s. Social Thinking materials provide the basis for instructional programs developed in the U. S. and abroad for specific settings and student needs.



 
Pamela J. Crooke, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Pam is the senior therapist at Social Thinking and part of the social-cognitive team, as well as a faculty member of San Jose State University in San Jose, CA. She authored, with Michelle Garcia Winner, Socially Curious and Curiously Social, a new guidebook for teenagers and new adults and You Are a Social Detective, a comic book curriculum for younger kids. Pam has presented on social thinking and on autism spectrum disorders nationally and internationally. Previously, she coordinated the interdisciplinary clinical services at the Autism Extension Clinic within the Tucson Alliance for Autism in Arizona. Her area of expertise is treatment efficacy in social and relational therapies for individuals with Asperger syndrome and high-functioning autism. Pam has remained a direct service provider for children and adults with autism for almost 20 years.

Stephanie Madrigal, M.A., CCC-SLP

Stephanie has worked as part of a clinical team with Michelle Garcia Winner and Social Thinking for over seven years. She is the author of the highly popular Superflex superhero curriculum. She is innovative in creating new materials for use in therapy and creating a warm and friendly rapport with her students and their families. Stephanie's role includes continued clinical and curriculum development. In January, 2008, her Superflex curriculum was released. Educators and parents have praised "the power of this cartoon character," that, when paired with the Social Thinking curriculum, teaches students to build their own heroic skills to overcome the thoughts before the actions that are causing them trouble. She received her bachelor's and her master's degrees in speech pathology from San Jose State University.
