Participants will be introduced to the Social Mentoring program at Skills for Living in Norwell, MA. Through the use of Social Thinking concepts, lessons, and curricula, older students actively mentor younger learners. As the older students teach and reteach the concepts, they act as meaningful role models for the younger students as they strengthen their own social cognitive skills.
Objectives
- Participants will gain exposure to a successful Social Thinking student mentoring program.
- Participants will become familiar with the cost, process, and learning benefits of initiating a mentoring program.
- Participants will be able to launch a similar program in their own learning community.
