Comments from parents:
“My 12 year old son Ryan attended the summer program. It was wonderful to see his excitement each week as he attended class. The skills he was taught transferred over to his daily life. He would use the skills to interact with his family and friends and even people he would just meet. He truly began to consider the thoughts and feelings of others in his interactions. These were skills we were not able to teach him at home or in school. However Michelle’s summer program was able to focus on this and many other social skills that have helped my son enormously! Thank you to the wonderful staff!”
Gail S. Pettit, Mother of Ryan

“ Michelle and her staff are amazing. They truly understand these kids and have a very effective way of working with them. They are able to break down the social realm into understandable, learnable chunks…..my son has made great strides.”
Jane Bindl Oi, Mother

“Michelle has shown me the tools needed to function in everyday life as a young adult with Asperger's Syndrome. By writing out a daily list of responsibilities, and estimating the time it will take to accomplish each task, this has helped me with better time management and planning. These skills were difficult for me before Michelle suggested the listing technique. I look forward to learning more "life skills" with Michelle in the future.”
A.P young adult

“Finally after many years searching for "groups or counseling" to help my young son with Asperger's Syndrome, Michelle has been the answer for both of us. She has given him tools to help him organize and follow through with everyday tasks. He is learning to work on the social skills that he never understood. Michelle has worked with me regarding the "parenting" skills I need to parent a young adult with Asperger's. These skills have helped in our family life to reduce the "melt down" times in a day.”
Mother of AP

Comments from mentor program participants:
“The mentoring week at Michelle Garcia Winner’s clinic far exceeded my expectations. Michelle and her staff were incredibly generous with their wealth of ideas, strategies and materials. Seeing highly skilled and creative therapists in action is the best way to learn!”
P. Taboni, Speech Language Pathologist in private practice.

“The mentoring week offered opportunities to observe approaches for addressing social cognitive difficulties skillfully put into action in individual and group therapy sessions, opportunities to confer with Michelle and her stellar staff and to practice the skills the staff modeled. I found the mentoring week to be a very effective way to deepen my understanding of the ILAUGH model and to gain numerous ideas for effective and creative techniques and activities to incorporate into my therapy practice. I would highly recommend this experience to any educator who works with individuals with social cognitive deficits.”
C. Durbin, Speech Language Pathologist at Child Development Center at California Pacific Medical Center
