Getting Started
Start with Social Fortune or Social Fate -- pre-adolescents and adolescents read this engaging graphic novel, going through a series of teaching anime comic book strips that inspire students to decide which way the story will continue! Choose wisely and the story unfolds with favorable social "fortune"...
Social Behavior Mapping teaches individuals about the specific relationship between behaviors, others' perspectives, others' actions (consequences) and the student's own emotions about those around him or her. For 3rd-12th grade students, this strategy is most effective for students with solid language skills.
One of Social Thinking's best selling books, Worksheets! for Teaching Social Thinking and Related Skills encourages students with Asperger's Syndrome, high-functioning autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and others to process more deeply what social thinking means to them. Developed from years of working with students with social-cognitive challenges, the worksheets also serve as lesson plans to introduce social thinking concepts. Educators then take these concepts and play with them through different activities they develop. The curriculum works best for grades 5-12. The worksheets are coded to suggest which ones are better for different aged students. There are some worksheets for young students (K-4), but the majority are for more sophisticated users. The worksheets are a valuable supplement to Thinking About You Thinking About Me and Think Social! Curriculum.
The Social Success Workbook for Teens: An Instant Help Book for Teens. In this book, students are encouraged to reflect on their own experiences through guided workbook tasks. For professionals and parents to use with middle - high schoolers. Making friends is a skill like any other-there are rules to follow, ways to measure your progress, and reasons why some people are better at it than others. Although it may seem like this skill comes naturally to those who don't have Asperger's disorder, nonverbal learning disorder (NLD), or other problems relating to others, the reality is that even the most popular people must constantly hone their abilities in order to make new friends and keep the friends they already have.
